We strive to be led by the Holy Spirit and find joy and support in our faith and each other. We act at the forefront of faith-based efforts to protect the environment, and our work is very fast-paced, with multiple projects and priorities managed daily. We enjoy a collaborative working environment where everyone is committed to tackling the planetary crisis with courage and love. As Pope Francis said in Laudato Si’, we believe that “truly, much can be done!”

About this Position

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Web Developer to oversee the ongoing development, maintenance, and optimization of the Laudato Si' Action Platform website. This role requires a strategic thinker who not only manages technical tasks but also proposes and implements long-term improvements that enhance functionality, user experience, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee development and maintenance of a plugin-heavy WordPress-based website.
  • Integrate and maintain a connection between the website and Salesforce CRM, including forms, surveys, user data, and dashboards.
  • Manage website architecture and user flows for multiple user types (e.g., individual, institution, diocesan).
  • Translate visual and functional designs into optimized, scalable code.
  • Coordinate the implementation of user-facing features like downloadable certificates, dashboards, email integrations, and login systems.
  • Manage and organize backend content (e.g., action libraries, institutional listings) with logical structure and naming conventions.

Skills and Characteristics

Technical Proficiency
  • Expert in WordPress (including heavy plugin environments).
  • Experience with Salesforce integrations and APIs.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with multilingual/multi-region website builds.

Language Proficiency
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written), with the ability to work and communicate effectively in bilingual team environments.

Project & Information Management
  • Ability to organize and document backend systems clearly and consistently.
  • Experience managing task pipelines and updating stakeholders regularly.
  • Strong file naming, categorization, and versioning habits.

Communication & Collaboration
  • Strong communication skills—can explain technical matters clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive in offering ideas and updates, not just responding to requests.
  • Comfortable working with designers, copywriters, and communications staff.

Initiative & Foresight
  • Not just reactive—anticipates future needs and proposes improvements.
  • Actively seeks out bugs, inefficiencies, or bottlenecks and brings solutions to the table.
  • Prepared to maintain smooth operation during peak events and content launches.

Security & Compliance
  • Demonstrated understanding of web security best practices, including data protection for user information

Availability & Flexibility
  • Willingness to work with a flexible schedule aligned to a global team across time zones.
  • Readiness to respond to urgent issues or outages in a timely manner.
  • Comfortable providing occasional weekend or off-hours support as needed for critical fixes.

Preferred Qualities
  • Familiarity with Catholic or mission-driven organizations
  • Experience with certificate generation systems and gated content for logged-in users
  • Previous experience working with international or multilingual platforms
